In his remarks, DAME Chairman, Mr. Moses Ihonde, reminded the media of the reason for the award: "It is to boost performance, reward talent and enterprise and enhance professionalism in the media; it is to underscore the critical importance of the media to national growth and development".

He said it was delightful to say that "all the past winners have moved on to greater heights as worthy Ambassadors of the DAME project".

Mr. Lanre Idowu, CEO, Diamond Publications, in his address, explained how winners are picked. "A panel of judges will be established to screen those entries. When the trustees ratify the result a date in the last quarter of the year will then be announced for the formal presentation dinner where new inductees into the DAME Hall of FAME are honoured…"

"…The result of this good attention to detail is that DAME has produced many past winners who have gone ahead to win laurels in other competitions globally.
