DAME Holds 21st presentation, December 14*

Trustees of the Diamond Awards for Media Excellence (DAME) have announced that this year's presentation will hold on Friday, December 14 at the Lagos Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja.

Print journalists and broadcasters who have distinguished themselves in various fields of journalism practice will be inducted into the DAME Hall of FAME. In a statement, the organizers said prizes would be given in such categories as Newspaper the Year, Editor of the Year, Television Reporter of the Year, Radio Reporter of the Year, Radio Presenter of the Year, Television Documentary of the Year, Editorial Writing, and Informed Commentary. Reporting categories of sports, politics, agriculture, development, the child, and the judiciary will also be honoured.

First held in 1992 to reward excellence, talent, enterprise and creativity, this 21st consecutive edition makes DAME, Africa's most consistent media award.

It is a private initiative that operates from the premise that the media as keepers of public conscience and morality need to be encouraged to tread the path of responsibility for the good health of society.

To date, 415 names have been inducted into the DAME Hall of FAME. The annual DAME presentation provides a state of the media assessment and serves as a useful forum for leading names in the media to interact with thought leaders in various spheres of endeavour. Its verdicts enjoy industry respect.
