CITATION OF Bennet Omeke

WINNER OF THE EDITORIAL CARTOONING PRIZE

Bennet Omeke’s cartoon, “Exit and Entry” comes with a compelling message. The timely message centres on the lingering perception of law makers as sometimes more concerned with the perks of office than the work they were elected to perform.

Omeke lampoons the legislators as people of modest means on assuming office whose belongings balloon out of proportion when they leave office. It is a subtle way of continuing the debate on the nature and demands of public service.

Omeke of the Punch Newspaper is going home today with his second DAME, having won the first in 2013 also for Editorial Cartooning.
