CITATION OF Adebayo Bodunrin, WINNER OF THE TELEVISION REPORTING CATEGORY OF THE 25TH DAME 

Nigeria’s journey to cocoa production rebirth was what engaged the attention of Adebayo Bodunrin in his winning entry for the 25th DAME Prize for the Television Reporting category.

Why is cocoa no longer a mainstay of the nation’s economy? Why are the potentials under-utilized? What challenges are confronting the farmers among other probing questions were what Adebayo answered in his report aired on the African Independent Television on January 5, 2015?

Sufficiently deep, enlightening and timely, the report showed Adebayo as a committed professional alert to his social responsibility.

Born on April 11, 1955, Adebayo began his journalism career as a Reporter Trainee with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria in 1977, has worked with the stables of Punch, Vanguard before joining Daar Communications (owners of AIT and RayPower) as a senior correspondent.

Bodunrin is an alumnus of the University of Jos and Bayero University, Kano; he had undergone courses at the Television College Jos, FRCN Training School and the BBC Training Centre, London.
