Mr. Felix Adenaike started out as a teacher, rising to become a headmaster before crossing over to the civil service as an information officer. The lure to continue educating the public took him to the Daily Times as a journalist. He made his mark there as a strong features and Leader writer. His clearheaded analyses soon earned him posting to West Africa magazine in London as senior correspondent. He was also Europe Correspondent of the Daily Times.

He later joined Sketch Nigeria Ltd as CEO and editor in chief. From the Sketch, he served as District Manager of the Daily Times in charge of the West. He later crossed over to the Tribune as editor in chief. His strict managerial skills soon earned him the cognomen, GOC, that is General Officer Commanding. Alongside the duo of Segun Osoba and late Peter Ajayi, the trio was named the Three Musketeers by late Chief Obafemi Awolowo. It was a fitting tribute to the bond of association, friendship and collaboration among them which translated into many worthy causes for the good health of the profession.

On retiring from the Tribune, Mr. Adenaike has remained busy as managing consultant of Syndicated Communications, churning out books. He has served as a visiting member of the guardian editorial board. He was conferred with the fellowship of the Nigerian Guild of Editors in 2003 and has received numerous honours from the Nigeria Union of Journalists. He remains a mentor to younger journalists whose doors are ever open to those who wish to drink from his fount of knowledge and wisdom. For his lifelong devotion to advancing the frontiers of knowledge and strengthening the media as a pillar of democracy and prodigious contributions to nation building he is being conferred with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
