Established February 27, 1983, the Guardian began as a weekly, then turned daily on July 4, 1983. It has always prided itself as a paper of record. The Guardian devotes liberal space of news, features and commentaries to issues concerning the Nigerian child from maternal and child deaths to malnutrition, education, safety in schools and school feeding to mention just a few.
