CITATION OF Tolu Ogunlesi
WINNER OF THE INFORMED COMMENTARY PRIZE
Tolu Ogunlesi’s winning entry, Saving Lagosians of Badia East, is a sensitive handling of the rising tension around land matters and how it has affected squatters and slum residents.
The column makes a persuasive appeal for government to treat the people of Badia with deserved empathy.
Ogunlesi, a 2004 graduate of Pharmacy from the University of Ibadan, embraced Journalism and has written regularly for Next and Punch.
His love for writing took him to the University of East Anglia, Norwich, England in 2011 where he took a course in Creative Writing.
Tolu Ogunlesi now plies his trade with the Presidency where he serves as Special Assistant on Digital Media to President Muhammadu Buhari.
