VICTOR AKHIDENOR

VICTORIOUS VICTOR AKHIDENOR

Winner, SPORTS REPORTING, AT THE 24TH DAME

Victor Akhidenor’s winning work has a fascinating unusualness. It is the story of neglect and abuse. Humanising the National Stadium, Victor sings an elegy, lamenting our poor maintenance culture and reminiscing on the good old days when the stadium was the sports lover’s darling acclaimed all over the world. Whilst the edifice remains a shadow of its glorious past, new landlords have taken over the stadium from motor mechanics to restaurateurs, bar men and women, pastors and alfas all profiteering at the expense of the National Stadium.

Born 20th October, 1977, Akhidenor is a 1999 Economics graduate. A sports lover, he was with Saturday Sun Newspaper from May 2010 – December 2011 before crossing over to Complete Communications Limited as a staff reporter from March 2012-March 2014. He joined The Cable Online Newspaper in 2014 and has since remained there.
